1. Who We Are
QASRA ("we", "our", "us") is an Islamic digital library app developed by Syed Ali Hamza Chishty. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information (when you sign up):
- Email address
- Display name
- Profile photo (Google profile or custom upload)
Optional Profile Information:
- Gender, age, religion (for statistics only)
App Usage Data:
- Bookmarks (synced to cloud when logged in)
- Last active timestamp
Device Data (stored locally only):
- Precise or Approximate location (depending on your selection in device permissions — stored locally on your device and never saved on our servers. To resolve your city and state name, coordinates are transmitted to our secure geocoding API, and they are not logged or stored.)
- Prayer time settings and city name
- Theme, font, and display preferences
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide account authentication and bookmark sync
- To calculate prayer times based on your location
- To deliver local Azaan alerts and announcements on your device
- To display your profile within the app
- We do NOT sell, share, or rent your data to third parties
4. Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication and analytics
- Google Sign-In — Social login (name, email, photo from Google)
- Cloudflare — Content delivery, hosting, and secure cloud database
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Account data stored securely on Cloudflare (encrypted at rest)
- Location data stored locally on your device only
- Profile photos stored on our secure CDN (Cloudflare R2)
- All network communication uses HTTPS encryption
6. Data Retention & Deletion
- Bookmarks are cleared from your device on logout
- Your cloud data (profile, bookmarks) remains until you request deletion
- You can delete your account and wipe all stored cloud data instantly at any time directly within the Profile settings inside the app by selecting "Delete Account"
- Alternatively, you can request account and data deletion online by emailing us at admin@qasra.org
7. Permissions We Request
- Location — Precise or Approximate location (depending on your selection) for prayer times and Qibla direction. We do not use high-accuracy GPS/satellite tracking, making the request instant and battery-efficient (optional). Coordinates are sent to our secure geocoding API for city resolution.
- Notifications — Azaan/prayer reminders (optional)
- Internet — Load Quran, Hadith, and sync data
- Vibration — Haptic feedback for tasbeeh and notifications
8. Children's Privacy
QASRA is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us for removal.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
